Green electricity direct connection in China’s steel industry—Policies, economics, and stakeholder incentives

The report combines policy review, scenario design, quantitative economic assessment, and stakeholder analysis. It uses an hourly techno-economic model covering all 8760 hours of the year to assess self-built direct-connection projects in six cities spanning China’s wind and solar resource regions and steel-production belts. The central scenarios test green-electricity shares of 30%, 50%, 70%, 90%, and 100% off-grid. BF–BOF steelmaking and hydrogen-based direct reduced iron (H₂-DRI) are discussed to establish mechanism boundaries; their outcomes are not extrapolated from the EAF model.
